Little Pomona Art of Darkness 2019

Susanna and James Forbes of Little Pomona make natural cider from their 120 tree orchard in Thornbury, North Herefordshire. In their own words, their aim is to make cider that "speak of the land, that taste of the harvest, that illustrate the wonderful cider making heritage the region is built on, and that look to the future".

Art of Darkness is a cider that is the result of our annual experimentation with extended barrel maturation. In January 2020 we sent a tannic blend of Ellis Bitter (67%) and Ashton Bitter(33%) from 2019 into ten individual ex-spirit casksto develop on the fine lees for nearly 14 months. In the end just five barrels were selected for the final blend, bottled still without additions.
